Web Design - More than Meets the Eye
Elements for a successful web site design
Many Elements go into successful web site design; we can cluster those elements into sensory,
conceptual, and reactive aspects. That is, design isn't only what you see, it's also what you
think and feel as you navigate a web site. This explores some of the basic principles of web
site design.
A good site isn't built only by brilliant programmers
"A good site isn't built only by brilliant programmers, or by talented graphic artists, or by lucid
content authors, or by insightful managers. It will be built by their synergy, each one
respecting the contributions of the others, and feeding off it for the inspiration for their own
creativity. building the web is a collaboration at all levels."

Design is a word that tends to get overloaded with specific, personal perspectives - what it
means to three different people may well be three different things. If you were to ask a
graphics artist, a programmer, and a librarian to each design a web site, I think you
would get three very different results. But I think you would only get the very best results if you
could persuade them to build it together. Web design is the synergy and synthesis of three
aspects of a web site.

 Search Engine Placement
Search engine placement is probably the single most important factor in the sale of your goods
and services on the Internet. We believe we have many of the solutions to the very critical
problem of search engine placement. We are all aware of the fact that if your site can't be
found by the search engines, your potential customers will never hear about you. Your
webpage design and layout are very critical to sales, but these potential customers must first
find you before you can even begin to talk about sales.
Search Engine Registration
Anyone can register a page on a search engine registration is easy. Search engine placement
on the other hand is very difficult, and great attention to web page content is essential there are
even automated programs for web page registration. However, if your page content isn't
correct for a given search category, you will never be found. Remember, it was a search
engine that brought the visitor to your site in the first place.
Your visitor came looking for information, not "cool" looking graphics. Your pages need to
download quickly, and must be able to be found on a search engine. This requires that the
widest possible range of search engines be aware of your site, and be properly indexed. You
must also develop a continuing site promotion program, by following up on these search
engine registrations, on a regular basis.

You must regularly check the effectiveness of your website, by checking it's "hit" activity, and
it's placement of each individual search engine. This caot be over stressed. If you can't find
your webpage on a particular search engine, then no one else can find you either.
